Our PM30 Pulser Receiver is now in operation in many automated systems, both in single channel and multi channel applications. The PM30 is a single board which combines both logarithmic and linear receivers in the same unit. Although the previous PRM15 and PLM15 boards already had exceptional performance, we have been able to improve many features including dynamic range, bandwidth, DAC range and others. The PM30 is used with the existing Pulser Preamplifiers and Multiplexers, with the additional capability of operating with up to 4 x 8 channel multiplexers, giving up to 32 channels in total with a combined PRF of 20kHz.

USL also manufactures a range of four other Pulser Receivers - PR20, PR50, PRM15 and PLM15. The PR20 is a general purpose board with a "square wave" pulser for use in the frequency range 1 - 25MHz. Typical uses are for inspection of metallic materials up to about 20mm thick and composites up to 5 / 10mm. The PR50 has a "spike" pulser suitable for operation with transducers up to 75MHz. This is used for high resolution inspection of thinner materials - defect resolution of 30 micrometres or better is achievable with the PR50 and appropriate transducers.

The PRM15 and PLM15 are more highly specified, for use in very demanding industrial applications, such as inspection of thick or highly attenuating materials. These boards are suitable for use in very noisy industrial environments. They are used with an external, remote Pulser Preamplifier for single channel operation, or with the MUX8 Multiplexer for multi channel operation. When used with the Multiplexer, most of the settings can be switched at the full PRF rate. This makes it possible to operate, for example,  with one channel connected to a 25MHz transducer for near surface inspection and another channel connected to a 5MHz transducer, with the settings optimised for each. The PRM15 has a traditional linear amplifier, whereas the PLM15 has a logarithmic detector (amplifier) for exceptional instantaneous dynamic range.
