The USL ADC100X is a 100MHz analogue digital converter board which is used in most of the USL inspection systems.

One unique feature of this ADC is that the design has been optimised for multiplexing. It incorporates a number of special features, especially where ADC memory access is concerned. There are two completely independent data memories on the ADC, one for the PC and one for the associated Digital Signal Processor (DSP). Both memories each consist of two blocks; at any one time one block is assigned to the ADC for writing while the other is available via the corresponding port for reading.

The DSP100 is a complex signal processor designed specifically for optimum processing of digital signals derived from ultrasonic NDT systems. As such it is capable of out-performing almost all general- purpose DSP systems, under peak conditions achieving the equivalent of over 500 MIPs.

The combination of ADC100X and DSP100 provide the capability to use up to 8 simultaneous monitor gates, which may independently be main bang triggered or interface triggered. Gates can be set for amplitude, time of flight or phase monitoring.
